The Subject
Gabriel, “strength of God”, brought the news to Zechariah and to Mary. In icons he carries a messenger's staff and a translucent sphere bearing the letter Χ, for Christ, the message he was sent to deliver.
The Making
Painted as a pair to the Archangel Michael on a matching shaped panel, with the iconographer's signature at the lower left. The two hang well together on either side of a doorway or an icon corner.
Chosen by the house from the workshops of the forty Bethlehem families it works with, and sent to you from Old Caritas Street.
